The name of the fall is derived from 'Chikku Jhar' (substantive in local language), which in Hindi means Chidiya (Sparrow) and Jhar means waterfall, hence it is called Chadwick Falls. Local people say that where the water of the spring falls from a height of 100 meters, there is a pond and there is a big rock nearby. It is said that once upon a time a demon lived there. Which caused a lot of trouble to the people living in the surrounding area. The people of the village used to keep 'Sattu' on the rock here as food to the demon. But when the demon was not satisfied with Sattu only, he started troubling the people more. So when people saw that the matter had now exceeded the limit, then people went to the shelter of the deity. The deity fought the demon and buried him under a big rock. After that people started living in peace.
