Hanuman Mandir is a world-famous temple located in Jakhu, Shimla. It is only 1.5 kilometers (7 minutes) away from Shimla. A large number of people from all over the country and abroad come to visit here. It is believed that when Lakshman Ji fainted during the war between Shri Ram and Ravana then Hanuman Ji was going through the flying in the sky towards the Himalayas to take Sanjeevani Booti, Hanuman Ji saw Yaksha Rishi doing penance here (Later it was named after the sage Yaksha. Yaksha means yak, yak became Yaku and changed from yaku to jakhu). After taking a rest and getting the exact introduction of Sanjeevani Booti, before leaving this place, Hanuman Ji promised to Yaksha Sage that at the time of return from Dronacharya Mountain after bringing Sanjeevani Booti Hanuman Ji will meet to Yaksha Sage again. Due to being trapped in the embranglement of a demon named Kalnemi on the way, Hanuman Ji went through a short route to Ayodhya due to lack of time. When Hanuman Ji did not return to Yaksha Rishi, the sage Yaksha became distraught. After this Hanuman Ji appeared to him, and the self-styled idol of Hanuman Ji appeared at this place. With which the Yaksha Rishi built a beautiful temple of Hanuman Ji here. Even today this idol is installed in the temple and people from far and wide come to see him.
The devotees who come here say that they get peace by coming here and their wishes are also fulfilled. Those who come here with a sincere heart, Hanuman Ji does not send them empty-handed, their wishes are definitely fulfilled.
A huge 108 feet high statue of Hanuman Ji has also been installed in the courtyard of Jakhu temple, which you can see from anywhere in Shimla.
